HEROES VEST FUND INC., a Lexington-based nonprofit, has donated tracking harnesses for each of the six K-9 police dogs serving the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. Each harness includes a handle, Sheriff’s Department patches and reflective “SHERIFF” panels. The fund previously donated four body armor vests to dogs in the K-9 Unit. THE SECOND ANNUAL COLUMBIA LIFESAVERS blood drive is slated for 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday at the Columbia Metroplitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln St. The event is held to raise community awareness about the need for blood and to collect blood for patients undergoing cancer treatments, lifesaving surgeries and emergency care related to accidents and trauma. Presenting donors will receive an American Red Cross T-shirt and a pound of coffee courtesy of Starbucks.
