Sumter Police are looking for a couple of armed and dangerous pizza lovers.
Sumter Police Deputy Chief Alvin Holston said that three men stopped a Domino’s pizza delivery man and posed as customers before stealing his money and pizza Saturday night at a home on Love Street, in the southwestern part of the city. While one of the men posing as a customer was talking to the driver, two men wearing masks robbed the driver, demanding money. They took an undetermined amount of cash and the pizza order, Holston said.
“These people have created a scheme where they can take advantage of hard-working citizens out here trying to make a living,” he said.

This is the second pizza delivery robbery this month. In the first incident Jan. 8, three men reportedly beat a delivery man, stole his cash and about $40 worth of pizzas. The department thinks the incidents are connected, and the men should be considered armed and dangerous. Holston said the department has spoken with some pizza restaurants in Sumter about making sure their delivery drivers stay safe.
“We’re telling them that if they don’t feel comfortable not to make the delivery,” he said. “They can make a call to see if everything checks out.”
Holston said that the department thinks that the robbers also placed the orders for the pizzas. In both incidents, someone requested delivery at the Domino’s website to an address on Love Street before the robberies occurred. He said that the department hopes to make an arrest with online information from the orders.
“We want to stop this type of activity,” he said.
The men are all described as black, in their late teens or early twenties and of medium build. One of the bandana-wearing men in Saturday’s robbery reportedly had dreadlocks; the other has low-cut hair.
