Columbia police Thursday released a composite sketch that may look similar to a man who has been frightening female joggers in the Shandon neighborhood.
The sketch, done by a forensic artist from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, is based on the indecent exposure incident that happened Sunday afternnon in the 2600 block of Monroe Street in Shandon.
Meanwhile, Chief Randy Scott – while noting the man has not made any menacing advances on any of the women – urged anyone who comes in contact with the naked man to be careful.

"Anyone who displays that kind of behavior, I definitely would err on the side of caution," Scott said.
Scott said anyone seeing the naked man should not delay and call police immediately. He added the police are doing extra patrols in the area, and cautioned joggers to be alert and carry a cell phone.
In the Sunday incident, the jogger reported that a man in a silver sedan, possibly a Honda or Prius, asked her for directions. As she approached the vehicle, she noticed the man was naked from the waist down and was fondling himself. Afterwards, the man drove away.
The jogger described the suspect as being a white male, possibly between the ages of 20 to 40-years old, with “chubby” cheeks. He may also have a “low haircut” or is balding. The man was last seen wearing a white T-shirt.
That description roughly matched descriptions furnished to police investigators in previous incidents in Shandon and nearby Heathwood neighborhood.
"We don't know if it is a copycat or the same person," said police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons.
