RICHLAND 2: Richland 2 received the Division Chairman Award in the Public Sector category for having most impacted the 2011 Live United fundraising campaign. The award was presented by the United Way of the Midlands at the Campaign Finale Jan. 31 at the Township Auditorium in Columbia. With a staff of more than 3,500, the district was able to surpass its 2011 goal to raise $88,000. Start-up staff at the district’s newest high school under construction, Westwood High School, set the bar high by receiving the Gold Award for giving an employee per capita gift of $150 or more. The District Office and Support Services Center collectively earned the Silver Award with an employee per capita gift between $100 and $149. Earning the Bronze Award, the Center for Accelerated Preparation, Longleaf Middle School and W.R. Rogers Adult Education Center were recognized for having an employee per capita gift between $50 and $99. Other schools and centers that earned the Merit Award, with a 10-percent increase of at least $500, were Blythewood Middle, Killian Elementary, Lake Carolina Elementary, Richland Northeast High, Spring Valley High and Windsor Elementary schools. Catawba Trail Elementary, Muller Road Middle and Westwood High schools and the district’s Support Services Center each received the Premiere Award for raising more than $1,000 during a first-time campaign. Schools and centers with 100-percent participation were: Catawba Trail, Forest Lake, Lake Carolina and Langford elementary schools, the Center for Knowledge, Westwood High School and W.R. Rogers Center.
