The cause of an early morning fire at a Rosewood neighborhood home is under investigation.
The fire started before 3:30 a.m. at a house on the 500 block of South Waccamaw Street, said Brick Lewis, Columbia Fire Department spokesman.
The blaze caused about $40,000 worth of damage, Lewis said. The homeowner was out but arrived at the house to find smoke coming from it, Lewis said.
