Tuesday’s high school roundup | St. James boys’ season ends

SANTEE — The St. James boys basketball team’s trip to the state playoffs was short-lived as it lost to second-seeded Lake Marion, 74-53, on Friday in the first round of the Class AAA playoffs.

“They are not happy with the loss,” Sharks coach Monty Carr said of his third-seeded Sharks. “They are very disappointed. However, they are ready to get to work in the offseason and get ready for next year.”

Caleb Duggan led St. James with 18 points, Matt Strange added 15 before fouling out and Tredarius McCallum added 10 points.

“We committed key turnovers in the third quarter that gave them easy layups and a working margin to finish up with a 21-point win,” Carr said. “Luckily, we are returning 10 of our 13 players so we are looking to make sure we improve on our individual games and put it all together for the 2012-2013 season.”

Lake Marion had four score in double figures as Khalil Halls led the way with 18 points, Michael Williams added 16, Derek Jamison tallied 15 and Christopher Turner had 11.

•  (At) Timmonsville 76, Carvers Bay 67 | Teondre Bromell had a team-high 23 points for third-seeded Carvers Bay, but it wasn’t enough as it lost to second seed Timmonsville in the first round of the Class A playoffs.

Rayshod Pittman added 12 points and Walter Linnen had 10 points for the Bears.

Timmonsville was led by Tony Fulton, who had 31 points.

•  (At) Lake City 57, Waccamaw 30 | A trio of Panthers finished in double figures as they knocked the Warriors out in the first round of the Class AA playoffs. Shaynice Fulmore had a game-high 12 points, Jadia Behlin added 11 and Tisheema Fulmore had 10 for to-seeded Lake City.

Aaliyah Hudson and Imani Carr had a team-high eight points each for the fourth-seeded Warriors.
