A Hopkins woman was found guilty Wednesday in connection with fraudulent tax returns, the U.S. Attorneys Office announced.
Dorothy Lee Anderson, 47, was convicted in federal court in Columbia on 18 counts of filing false, fictitious, and fraudulent claims, one count of theft of government property, and one count of aggravated identity theft.
According to the U.S. Attorneys Office, Anderson operated DL Anderson Tax Service from her Hopkins home and filed fraudulent returns for the 2007 tax year using stolen identities. She directed about $68,000 in fraudulent returns into two bank accounts at Brookland Federal Credit Union that she owned or controlled.
