An Orangeburg man won $1 million in the South Carolina Education Lottery, but he isn’t quitting his day job.

The man, who told lottery officials he’s been working since he was 16, said he bought his tickets at an Orangeburg Li’l Cricket while on work break.

One of the two Diamond Millionaire 10th Anniversary tickets was an instant million-dollar winner.

But the unidentified winner didn’t go home. He went back to work, although probably with a lighter step.

“I’m not quitting now,” he said.

Until recently, the hard-working resident said he’d been working seven days a week. While that’s not the case now, he’s not even considering a vacation after the win, he said.

“I’m blessed,” he said. “I’m just going to keep on living and working.”

He’ll be sharing his winnings with his children and extended family.

The Diamond Millionaire game started in Janaury. There are three more top prizes in the game. Odds are 1 in 1.2 million.

Li’l Cricket #847 in Orangeburg received a $10,000 commission for selling the claimed ticket.
