Columbia and Keenan continue on a collision course in the Class 2A state girls basketball playoffs.
The Region 3 rivals met in the Upper State championship game a year ago with Keenan scoring an upset win to advance to the state title game after losing both conference outings against the Capitals during the regular season.
A similar scenario is unfolding this year. Columbia and Keenan both scored second round wins on Friday and are one win away from meeting in the US finale at Greenvilles Bi-Lo Center for the second year is a row.
Columbia (20-4) dispatched Saluda 47-30 as senior Norrisha Victrum erupted for 27 points. The Capitals travel to face Cheraw in third-round play on Tuesday. The Region 4 champion Braves have two easy wins on the board to date 53-36 against Mid-Carolina, 55-37 over Pendleton. The game will mark Cheraws first-ever Elite Eight appearance in the modern era.
Keenan help on to defeat Region 2 champion Broome, 48-47. The Raiders had a 48-41 lead with two minutes remaining, but the Centurions at least made it interesting on two 3-pointers down the stretch by all-state senior Madison Floyd. The Raiders (13-10) hit the road to face Region 1 champion Palmetto on Tuesday.
