Greene’s shot saves Upstate

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Ty Greene scored 17 points and made a 3-pointer with 1 second left to lift USC Upstate to a 62-61 win over Lipscomb on Saturday.

The Spartans (18-10, 11-4 Atlantic Sun) trailed 61-59 after Lipscomb’s Martin Smith made a 3-pointer. After an SC-Upstate timeout, Greene — the team’s leading scorer — knocked down the game winner.

Lipscomb was unable to get off a shot to seal the victory for the Spartans.

At Kent, Ohio, Nori Johnson scored 27 points, Trent Wiedeman recorded a double-double and College of Charleston (17-11) held off a late rally.

At Birmingham, Ala., Drew Windler scored 18 points, and Samford held on.

Jordan Loyd was the only double-figure scorer for Furman, with 15 points.

BETHUNE-COOKMAN 70, S.C. STATE 59

At Orangeburg, Anthony Breeze scored 20 points, and Bethune-Cookman rallied.

S.C. State (5-21, 0-12 MEAC) was led by Brandon Riley’s 18 points.

At Boone, N.C., Isaac Butts and Omar Carter scored 15 points each, and Butts also grabbed 15 rebounds to lead Appalachian State.

Matt Morgan scored 22 points to lead the Eagles (11-19).

At Davidson, N.C., Jud Dillard recorded 22 points and seven rebounds while Kevin Murphy added 21 points and nine boards to pace Tennessee Tech.

Jon Pack led five players in double figures for Coastal Carolina (18-9) with 15.
