At Wilmington, N.C., No. 48 South Carolina won the first four singles matches to score a 4-3 win at No. 46 UNC Wilmington on Saturday. The Gamecocks (8-1) shook off a slow start in singles play after the Seahawks (5-2) swept the doubles matches. Freshman Kyle Koch sealed the win in the No. 5 spot with a straight-set victory. At Clemson, the Tigers defeated Wisconsin 6-1, rallying to win all six single matches. At San Diego, the No. 26 South Carolina women's tennis team (4-1) earned a 7-0 win over Loyola Marymount (0-6).
USCs Beckles sets record
South Carolina senior Kierre Beckles broke the 55-meter hurdle school record to lead the Gamecocks to 12 wins at the Gamecock Invitational. For the men, freshman Damiere Byrd ran the fourth-fastest 55-meter dash time in school history to win the event at 6.24.
USC softball splits
At Miami, USC senior pitcher Kierstyn White led South Carolina to a 5-0 victory against Illinois-Chicago (4-5) in the Blue & Gold Feisberg Memorial at Florida International. White (2-1) allowed two hits in her first shutout. USC (5-2) lost to Florida International 3-1 in its second game.

Azarenka, Stosur in Qatar final
At Doha, Qatar, top-ranked Victoria Azarenka reached the Qatar Open final, defeating Agenieszka Radwanska 6-2, 6-4 while hobbling on some points because of an ankle injury. Azarenka will play Australia's Sam Stosur for the title today. At Rotterdam, Netherlands, top-seeded Roger Federer reached the ABN Amro World Tennis final with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory against Nikolay Davydenko. Federer will play for the title today against Juan Martin del Potro, who downed second-seeded Tomas Berdych 6-3, 6-1.

Humphries wins bobsled gold
At Lake Placid, N.Y., Canada's Kaillie Humphries won the women's gold medal at the Bobsled World Championships. The reigning Olympic champion and brakewoman Jennifer Ciochetti finished the competition with an aggregate four-run time of 3 minutes, 48.57 seconds. Elana Meyers and Katie Eberling, in their first worlds for the United States, took the bronze, 1 second behind the winning sled.

Arsenal stumbles again
Arsenal lost to Sunderland 2-0 in the fifth round of the FA Cup, leaving the English Premier League club facing a seventh consecutive season without a trophy.
Arsenal is 17 points behind league leader Manchester City.
