AIR FORCE AIRMAN JAMIECE B. SANDERS graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio. The daughter of Cynthia Freeman of Columbia, she is a 2011 graduate of Richland Northeast High.

THE RIDGE VIEW HIGH LITERARY MAGAZINE, “PEGASUS,” has received a Superior rating in the 2011 National Council of Teachers of English Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines.

CINDY SYMONDS, Round Top Elementary media specialist, has been named Media Specialist of the Year by the S.C. Association of School Librarians.

BEN LIPPEN SCHOOL won third place in the Division I State Math Meet. The team consisted of Wongoo Shim, Xixi Ni, Josh Parks, Minyoung Kim and Randy Liang.

COVENANT CLASSICAL CHRISTIAN SCHOOL has tied for third place in the Division II State Math Meet. The team consisted of John Copp, Aliya Domas, Hudson Boudet, Abigal Todd and Nick Landry.

SCOTTY PEEK has been hired as the Upper School art teacher at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School.

DR. MICHAEL HEATH, currently Assistant Head of School at the Catlin Gabel School in Portland, Ore., has been named Head of School at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School. A graduate of James Madison University, Oxford University and the University of Edinburgh, he will begin his tenure July 1.
