Sophomores Aja Wilson and Victoria Dickerson combined for 48 points as top-ranked Heathwood Hall opened the SCISA Class 3A state tournament with a 67-43 quarterfinal win over Laurence Manning Academy on Tuesday at the Sumter Civic Center.
Wilson dominated with a 32-point game and had 16-point backing from Dickerson.
It was the 16th straight win for the Highlanders (22-1), who square off against defending champion Pinewood Prep in a 6:30 p.m. semifinal game on Friday. The Panthers from Summerville whipped Wilson Hall 75-28 on Tuesday. Pinewood defeated Heathwood by a 58-48 count in the semifinals last year.
Cardinal Newman (17-10) also advanced to the semifinals courtesy of an 81-52 win over Orangeburg Prep. The Cardinals draw tough Northwood Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
