A former Columbia firefighter today lost his lawsuit aimed at forcing the city to pay him 29 years of past-due health insurance premiums.
A unanimous S.C. Supreme Court upheld a lower-court ruling that threw out the case by Robert L. Knight Sr. The justices said the initial judge decided correctly when he said Knight failed to show that the city or the Fireman’s Retirement and Pension Fund intentionally disregarded a court order to pay the benefits.
