Disney’s “Phineas and Ferb: The Best LIVE Tour Ever!” is taking audiences from the TV show to the stage tonight at 7 at Colonial Life Arena.

Inspired by Disney Channel’s animated show, “Phineas and Ferb,” the live tour brings the TV characters to life for an hour of high-energy songs, choreography and audience interaction. The storyline is familiar — school’s out for the summer and Phineas and Ferb want to make it spectacular by inventing imaginative creations. The State caught up with Adrian Baez, who plays Phineas in the stage production, to get an idea of what audiences can expect from the show.

How does the TV show translate to the stage in this production?

The TV show and the stage show are very similar in that they are very fast-paced. The hourlong stage production is just as fast-paced as the 11-minute TV show with lots of dancing and singing.

What do you like about playing Phineas?

Phineas is a very imaginative and creative kid. He doesn’t think that anyone can stop him and his mind is limitless. For me, Phineas is like how I was as a kid. Kids love to think up wild things and as a kid I used to create things in my mind ... but Phineas gets to actually create the things he thinks up.

What are the musical numbers like?

A lot of the songs from the TV show are also in the stage production. There’s “Gitchee Gitchee Goo,” “Backyard Beach,” “Truck-Driving Boy,” which is a spinoff from “Truck Driving Girl” from the TV show, “Squirrels in My Pants,” which is a fan favorite, and there’s even one original song that was written specifically for the stage show.

What is the most interesting aspect of the live tour?

For me, I really like performing in “Backyard Beach.” That’s a very fun dance number because it has a very groovy, relaxed feel and I get to let loose. I also love Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s and Perry’s Broadway medley, and when they battle it out with ninja and “Matrix”-like moves. It’s really cool to watch.

What do you think audiences will enjoy most during the show?

I see the kids jumping around like crazy and enjoying the shows. Usually people cannot help but burst out into laughter (during the song) “Squirrels in My Pants.” I think that is a really big highlight along with the audience interaction — whenever Phineas and Ferb ask the audience for ideas — and the marshmallow launchers. The crowd goes crazy. We also have these larger than life disco balloon golf balls that go into the audience and some of the audience members get to go onstage and have an up-close encounter.

Anything else you want showgoers to know?

I want people to come to the show expecting to have a great time. It’s like a rock concert in that there will never be a dull moment. Kids will love it and the adults will love it, too. We’re here for one day only and I want them to leave having the songs stuck in their head.
