PELION HIGH SCHOOL students Liz Trice and Karen Mendoza received a Lexington One Coalition (LOCC) Award.

LEXINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO approved the appointments of Nicole Singletary as the new principal for the Congaree-Wood Early Childhood Center and Wood Elementary School Complex. Brad Coleman will be the new principal for Pine Ridge Middle School.

DR. MICHAEL HEATH has been appointed as the new head of school for Heathwood Hall Episcopal School.

WHITE KNOLL MIDDLE SCHOOL Principal Nancy L. Turner has announced her retirement.

PRINCIPAL LISA SHANNON of Pine Tree Hill Elementary was named SCIRA Administrator of the Year.

NORTH SPRINGS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL has been named a Magnet School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America (MSA), the National Association of Magnet and Theme-Based Schools.

RICHLAND TWO was recommended for continued Districtwide accreditation for the next five years by a review team from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS-CASI).

MILITARY

NAVY CONSTRUCTIONMAN BENJAMIN D. THOMPSON of Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 4, transferred authority of Camp Krutke to NMCB-11. He is the son of Marilyn A. Thompson of Lexington.

ARMY NATIONAL GUARD Pvt. Patrick G. Parker graduated from One Station Unit Training. He is the son of Pat G. Parker of Columbia.
