RICHLAND NORTHEAST HIGH SCHOOL is officially an International Baccalaureate World School.

LEXINGTON SCHOOL DISTRICT 2 has appointed Greg Morton as the new principal at Brookland-Cayce High School, Christopher Richards as the new assistant principal at Congaree-Wood Early Childhood Center and Wood Elementary School and Dawn Diimmler as the new assistant principal at Pine Ridge Middle School.

RICHLAND 2 SENIORS Jessika Banks, Spring Valley High School, and Karli Wells, Richland Northeast High School, earned $2,500 through the prestigious National Achievement Scholarship program.

COMMUNITY

LEXINGTON COUNTY Sheriff James R. Metts presented retired Maj. George Brothers and retired Maj. Joseph Quig with the Sheriff’s Medal, the highest law enforcement honor.

KENNETH CORRELL was promoted to the rank of sergeant with the Lexington County Sheriffs Department.

RIDGE VIEW HIGH SCHOOL student Corey Hemingway won the National Arts Competition for deaf and hard-of-hearing in web design.

MILITARY

MATTHEW SULLY B. COTTEN has enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the delayed entry program. The program allows recruits up to one year to complete prior commitments before reporting for basic training. He is the son of Elizabeth Brunson Cotten of Columbia.

GEORGE A. NORTON JR. has enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the delayed entry program. The program allows recruits up to one year to complete prior commitments before reporting for basic training. The son of Pamela E. Rhodes and George E. Norton Sr., both of Columbia, he is a 2010 graduate of Spring Valley High School. COREY A. VALENTINE has enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the delayed entry program. The program allows recruits up to one year to complete prior commitments before reporting for basic training. The son of Lisa A. Richardson of Columbia, Valentine is a 2010 graduate of Blythewood High School.
