Ousted House primary candidate heads to court

Published: June 10, 2012

Lexington County legislative candidate James Wiszowaty plans to go to court Monday seeking to be restored to the ballot in Tuesday’s primary election.

County Republican leaders removed him from the ballot over the weekend. They told him he is among the latest group of candidates whom they feel did not disclose personal financial information properly.

Wiszowaty said the decision is puzzling, since he has made such reports annually for the past 11 years as mayor of Batesburg-Leesville.

If upheld, his removal leaves Lexington 3 school board member Ralph Kennedy as the sole Republican candidate in the House District 39 race.
