Harvey Gantt leaves the Registrar's Office at Clemson College (now Clemson University) in January of 1963. Gantt was the first black student to be admitted to Clemson as well as the first black person to be enrolled at a previously all-white public institution in the state of South Carolina. FILE PHOTO
