Batesburg-Leesville vs. Brookland-Cayce

Site: Panther Stadium.

Game notes: The Panthers matched last season’s win total with a solid 28-21 road win at Chapin in their first outing under veteran coach Jerry Brown … B-C (1-1) opened the season with a big win over C.A. Johnson and took a big hit last week against archrival Airport. It was the 11th straight loss to the Eagles, the 14th in the last 15 meetings.

Series history: B-C evened the series at 2-2 with a 26-20 win last season.

C.A. Johnson vs. Keenan

Site: Bolden Stadium.

Game notes: C.A. Johnson (0-2) is coming off a 30-20 loss to city rival Eau Claire, but there were some individual highlights. QB Mike Knox had 213 passing yards and two scoring throws, and also ran for 50 yards. WR Anthony Eaddy finished with six receptions for 121 yards and one TD. Tarik Pryor leads the way on defense with 20 tackles to date and one fumble recovery … Keenan (1-1) is coming off a 48-14 loss to Lakewood.

Series history: Keenan blasted the Green Hornets 38-0 a year ago to increase its series lead to 26-19.

Wagener-Salley vs. Pelion

Site: Wagner-Salley Stadium.

Game notes: Wagner-Salley (2-0) is off to its best start in nine years under new coach ken Tucker and scoring points at an amazing rate. The War Eagles opended the season with a 38-14 rout of Latta and then humble Bethune-Bowman 73-14 last week … Pelion took a 47-6 hit off Swansea to drop to 0-2. The Panthers defense allowed 406 offensive yards and managed only 50 yards on the attack.

Series history: The series is all tied up at 14 wins apiece, but the split is odd. W-S won 13 of the first 14 meetings, while the Panthers have won 13 of the last 14. Pelion’s 19-6 win last season was its 10th in a row against the War Eagles.
