A man on the lam for nearly two months was arrested Friday after a patrolling deputy recognized the fugitive.
Frank Alexander Jones of West Columbia is being held at Lexington County Detention Center on a second-offense charge of crack cocaine distribution. Arrest warrants were obtained by Lexington County Sheriffs Department drug agents after a 5-month investigation on drug activity at a home in the 3700 block of Colony Park Lane outside of West Columbia.
Jones, who used to live at the Colony Park Lane home, was walking in the middle of Gillins Terrace Road, off U.S. 321, when he was spotted by a patrolling deputy. Jones, who had been on the run since drug agents arrested 14 people on drug charges in early July, was taken into custody and is now being held on $25,000 bond.
Lexington County drug agents began an undercover investigation on the Colony Park Lane home after receiving multiple complaints about drug dealing there. While scoping out the home, officers saw as many as 30 cars drive to the home in order to buy crack cocaine.
