Bromell Tinubu gets Working Families Party nod

The Democrat running in South Carolina’s new 7th Congressional District was scheduled to get an endorsement Tuesday.

Gloria Bromell Tinubu’s campaign says the candidate is being endorsed by the Working Families Party. The endorsement was scheduled for Bromell Tinubu’s campaign offices in Conway.

Bromell Tinubu, a former Georgia state representative, is running in the new congressional district in the northeastern corner of South Carolina, created because of population growth in the last census.

She faces Republican Tom Rice, chairman of the Horry County Commission, in the November election.

Governor’s schedule

Gov. Nikki Haley’s publicly announced schedule for this week, released Tuesday by her office, included only one event – a Charlotte press conference Tuesday, put on by the Republican National Committee, to praise GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney and criticize Democratic President Barack Obama.

Haley spent most of the last week at the Republican National Convention in Tampa. For the week that ended Labor Day, her schedule included:

8 – Media activities while attending that convention, a press availability, a “Newsmaker” interview with USA Today, a TV interview, another newspaper interview, a press briefing for conservative bloggers and three appearances on national cable news shows, two on Fox and one on CNBC

5 – Calls to other politicians, three to unnamed governors and two to unnamed local officials

4 – Speeches or addresses, to the convention, to the S.C. and Florida delegations at the convention, at the “Salute to the Carolinas” reception, and to the Republican Jewish Coalition’s “Salute to Republican Governors” event

3 each – Economic development calls, and sessions of the Republican convention

2 – Calls concerning a state agency or to an official of a state agency

1 -- Reception at the convention, the S.C. reception

Busiest day – Tuesday, with 13 activities

Slowest day – Friday, no activities

Of note – The governor’s schedule included one activity Monday, Labor Day. The schedule also does not indicate the governor was at her office during the week. Haley’s schedule normally includes her arrival time at her office when she is at the State House.
