Game notes: Unbeaten Swansea (3-0) returns to action after a bye week. The Tigers offense headliners include running back Travis Loadholt, quarterback Jordan Chavis and receiver Robbie Brown. Loadholt has rushed for 400 yards and four touchdowns on 52 carries. Chavis is 24-for-44 passing for 411 yards and five TDs. Brown has 11 catches for 173 yards and three scores. The early standouts on defense are Byron Johnson (20 tackles, 3 TFL, 2 sacks), Randy Brown (19 tackles, 4 TFL, 3 sacks), Terrence Salley (17.5 tackles, 8 TFL, 6 sacks, 1 interception, 1 fumble recovery, 1 defensive TD) and Jacob Regalis (6 TFL, 3 sacks). Swansea is looking for its 10th straight regular season win … Batesburg-Leesville (2-1) came back to earth is a 55-14 loss to Strom Thurmond last week. The Rebels had 34 points on the board before B-L found the end zone on a 10-yard scoring run late in the first half by Juawan Ethridge. It was the Panthers’ first setback under coach Jerry Brown. One highlight was the kickoff return brilliance of Terrance Wilson, whose three returns netted 273 yards, including an 87-yard scoring return late in the game. The new B-L flexbone attack produced just 135 total yards. Ethridge finished with 52 yards rushing on 13 carries. Series history: B-L was a 35-0 winner against the Tigers in the last encounter in 2009. It was the Panthers’ fifth win in a row in the series, increasing its advantage over Swansea to 13-7. Game notes: Two teams hungry for wins square off on the campus of Columbia International University … SCISA’s Ben Lippen (0-3) is coming off a tough 31-27 loss at Heathwood Hall. Alec DeBoer’s 14-yard scoring run and Tyler Renew’s two-point conversion dash in the fourth quarter brought the Falcons within four points, but that was as close as they would get. Renew had another big game – 120 yards rushing and three touchdowns – and has 448 yards and nine TDs on 98 totes, and caught four passes for 100 yards and another tally. James Patterson was credited with 13 tackles and one forced fumble vs. Heathwood, while Jack Wilson finished with 10 tackles, one tackle for loess and one forced fumble. Season tackle leader Greg Williamson had nine stops to up his total to 30 … C.A. Johnson fell to 0-4 in the wake of a 57-22 loss to Pelion a week ago. QB Mike Knox ran for 96 yards and two touchdowns in the latest Green Hornet setback. Knox has run for 224 yards, passed for 615 yards and accounted for six offensive touchdowns. Michael Watts (31 tackles) and Kenneth McDonald (26 tackles) are atop the hit list on defense. Series history: The teams are meeting for the third year in a row. It’s an unusual series, in that it is rare for a SCISA team to schedule a SCHSL public school. Ben Lippen won the previous two contests, including a 49-34 shootout last season. Eau Claire vs. Lake Marion

Game notes: Eau Claire (1-2) suffered a 43-12 defeat against Dreher in its return to action last week after a bye week. Lake Marion (2-1) has won two in a row against Class 1A opposition, averaging 57.5 points in the triumphs over Denmark-Olar and Bethune-Bowman.
