dhinshaw@thestate.comSeptember 13, 2012

— Judith Bailey has won a hotly contested race for Eastover Town Council.

Unofficial returns for Tuesday’s special election showed Bailey with 43 votes, followed by Martha Harris with 31.

The other candidates were Yvonne Flemming, Thelma Henson and Joann Simmons.

Bailey will serve the remainder of an unexpired term that ends in April 2014.

She takes the seat of Geraldene Robinson, whom voters promoted to mayor in July.
