FUNDRAISERS

A ZUMBATHON TO BENEFIT KEN STEVENSON will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, 9300 Farrow Road. Stevenson, who has been diagnosed with end-stage renal failure and has developed pulmonary fibrosis, is in need of a lung/kidney transplant. It’s $5 to participate and water and fruit will be available. Tax deductible donations may also be made at http://www.transplants.org

DONATIONS

SENIOR RESOURCES will hold a pet food drive for Meals on Wheels pets noon-4 p.m. Thursday at 2817 Millwood Ave. Volunteers with the United Way Day of Caring will be in the parking lot to accept donations of unopened dry dog or cat food (preferably 20 pounds or smaller). Financial donations will be accepted as well. The food will be distributed to Meals on Wheels clients who have pets. (803) 252-7734

GIRL SCOUT TROOP 468 is collecting new and gently used books for residents of Lexington County nursing homes and Columbia shelters. Accepting mysteries, romances, women’s fiction, crossword books, large-print books and school workbooks (partially used workbooks are welcome). Donation boxes at the following locations: Lexington County Public Library, 5440 Augusta Road, Lexington; Reformation Lutheran Church, 1118 Union St., Columbia; White Knoll Elementary School, 132 White Knoll Way, West Columbia; and White Knoll Middle School, 116 White Knoll Way, West Columbia.

CAMP DISCOVERY AT HIS ACRES, a nonprofit recreation therapy camp for children, youth and young adults is seeking donations of balls (tennis, rubber, playground, foam, sports, ping pong), gift cards (Home Depot, Walmart, Lowe’s, Michael’s), name tags (please avoid red and blue) and toilet paper. PALMETTO HEALTH CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL is in need of stuffed animals for its pediatric patients. The animals will be given to patients and later taken home with the children. Because of infection control guidelines and respiratory illnesses, stuffed animals must be new and store-bought. If you are interested in giving, call Allison Jones at (803) 434-2151.
