A drive-by shooting in north Columbia has sent one man to a local hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, Jennifer Timmons of the Columbia Police Department said in a media release.

The incident at the Rutledge Forest Apartments on the 3600 block of Falling Spring Road, behind Sunset Shopping Center near Sunset Drive, occurred around 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Police say it appears the unnamed victim was standing talking to others when “someone in a vehicle opened fire.”

The victim, believed to be in his 30s, collapsed after knocking on an apartment door seeking help. He was in stable condition early Saturday evening, Timmons said.

The investigation continues.
