OAK GROVE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL was one of five South Carolina schools to win 2012 National Blue Ribbon Schools Awards.
SALUDA RIVER ACADEMY FOR THE ARTS’ performing group Arts Unlimited performed at Sonoco Corporation’s “Go Green for your Team.” Arts Unlimited is comprised of third-to-fifth grade students.
LEXINGTON 1 SCHOOLS have received Farm to School Grants from the South Carolina Farm to school program. The recipients include Forts Pond Elementary, Gilbert Primary, Meadow Glen Middle, Pelion Elementary, Pleasant Hill Elementary, Pleasant Hill Middle and Red Bank Elementary.
LEXINGTON 2 teacher Diane Boulware has been selected as Lexington 2’s District Teacher of the Year. Boulware is the school counselor at Pineview Elementary School.

THE LEXINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT has partnered with the South Carolina Department of Corrections and Lake Murray ABATE to donate 5,100 used cellular phones and 3,000 used chargers and other cellular phone accessories to Cell Phones for Soldiers.

MARINE CORPS PFC. JOSHUA A. SHURTLEFF has graduated from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island. Shurtleff is the son of Cathrine B. and Michael W. Shurtleff of Columbia.
MARINE CORPS PVT. ALFONSO LUVIANO SANCHEZ has graduated from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island. Sanchez is the son of Maria C. Sanchez and Alfonso Luviano of Newberry.
AIR FORCE AIRMAN 1ST CLASS HAYLLE H. SAXON has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Saxon is the daughter of Laurrinda and Larry Ward.
ARMY PVT. LINDA L. DOUGLAS has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson. Douglas is the daughter of Courtney Cooper and the granddaughter of Theresa Montague, both of Columbia.
NAVY SEAMAN RECRUIT SABRINA G. SHELTON has completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Shelton is the daughter of Robbie A. and Landon O. Shelton.
ARMY PVT. GIOVANNA L. DWIGHT has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson. Dwight is the son of Carmen and Tyrone Dwight of Columbia.
AIR NATIONAL GUARD AIRMAN 1ST CLASS JORDAN J. WILEY has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Wiley is the son of Carolyn Collins of Irmo.
ARMY PVT. SHERMAN J. SMALLS has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Smalls is the son of Sherman Smalls Sr. of Elgin.
AIR FORCE RESERVE AIRMAN DILLION A. PAETOW has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Paetow is the son of Dale Paetow of Cayce.
