A Columbia man involved in a Greenwood County wreck in mid-September has died in a Greenville hospital.
The 22-year-old man, whose identity has not yet been released by the Greenwood County Coroner's Office, was an occupant of an Infiniti with one other person when it wrecked on SC 39 in the early morning of Sept. 15.
The car was heading north on the highway when it went off the left side of the road and struck a pole around 4:25 a.m., SC Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Brent Kelly said.
The car flipped over and the Columbia man was thrown out, Kelly said. He was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital where he died from his injuries around 10:50 a.m. Monday.
The other occupant, Gabriel Keller, 25, of Honea Path, was not ejected and was treated at Self Memorial Hospital with "minor injuries," Kelly said. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt, he said.
The highway patrol continues to investigate the wreck, in part to determine which of the men was driving, Kelly said.
