Heres what well be covering:
Big Ts Voter Registration Drive. Known for its chopped barbecue, fried chicken and fish baskets, Big Ts also will be holding a registration drive beginning at 11 a.m. Friday and Saturday, 7535 Garners Ferry Road.
Bow Tie Run/Walk. This 5K run/walk honors USCs 27th president, the late Andrew Sorensen. It starts at 9 a.m. Saturday near Sumter and College streets on the USC campus and benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Columbia. Early bird registration is $25 per participant, $10 for USC students. The fee goes up to $30 for all participants after today.
Irmo Okra Strut. Kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday with a street dance at Irmo Town Park, 1249 Lexington Ave. The festival starts with a parade at 9 a.m. Saturday, and the day wraps up at 5 p.m. Entertainment, lots of family offerings and of course all things okra are on tap.
Italian Festival. From Italian music to Italian cuisine and culture, this festival also features a fun and competitive bocce tournament. It runs from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday on Main Street in downtown Columbia.
Rosewood Arts Festival. Hosted by the Trenholm Artists Guild, the festival will include live music, arts performances, art for sale, portrait painting and childrens crafts. It runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at Rockaways, 2719 Rosewood Drive.
Viva La Vista. Live music, tasty food and drink from the Vistas local eateries. Whats not to love? Viva La Vista runs from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday throughout the Vista. Admission is free; tokens sold for food and beverages.
