Joshua Isaiah Williams, 20, was arrested by Columbia police late Thursday in the Five Points area for unlawfully carrying a weapon and resisting arrest.

The arrest came after police responded to a call about a suspicious person. A loaded .25-caliber handgun was found on him during a search, spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said.

Williams, from Greenwood, is too young to carry a concealed weapon, Timmons said. The University of South Carolina student was arrested in the 600 block of Santee Avenue, police said.
