Hilton Head Christian Academy 31, Thomas Sumter 14

Hilton Head Christian started strong, came out flat in the second half, but ultimately held on for a 31-14 win over Thomas Sumter on Friday.

Caleb Lewis led the Eagles' offense, completing 12 of 24 passes for 231 yards and two scores. He added a score on the ground, as well.

Tyler Chisholm carried 14 times for 104 and hit a 52-yard field goal in the first quarter.

Brad Meccariello was his usual jack-of-all-trades self, rushing five times for 49 yards, catching three passes for 95 yards and making eight tackles.

Jamario Williams had three catches for 89 yards.

The Eagles (5-1) jumped out to a 24-7 halftime lead but failed to score in the third quarter. That's where the defense stepped up, holding the Generals (2-4) at bay, even stopping them on a fourth-and-goal play from the 1.

Reed Shindell had eight tackles, two for loss, for the Eagles, and Will McCutchen added seven tackles and a sack. JD Reichel had an interception.
