SCHOOLS
MEADOW GLEN MIDDLE SCHOOL has received a donation from Michelin North America’s Lexington manufaturing site. The donation to the Lexington 1 Educational Foundation funded a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Lab at the school.
FOREST LAKE ELEMENTARY TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATED MAGNET has earned a NASA Award. Teachers Kevin Durden, Tammy Lundy and Denise Duke will be among the six teams of educators chosen from NASA Explorer Schools to spend a week at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas.
WINDSOR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL & THE CENTER FOR ACCELERATED PREPARATION have been awarded $160,000 and $80,000 grants, respectively, to fund afterschool programs from the S.C. Department of Education’s 21st Century Community Learning Center Program.

AIR FORCE AIRMAN WHITNEY N. BOLTON has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. Bolton is the daughter of Nicole Bolton and Tony Isler, both of Columbia.
MARINE CORPS PVT. JOHN M. IVERY has graduated from recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island. Ivery is the son of Angela A. Gilmore and Eugene Ivery II, both of Columbia.
ARMY NATIONAL GUARD PVT. JOSEPH THOMPSON has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga. Thompson is the son of Tawana Barnes and Joseph Thompson Jr., both of Columbia.
ARMY PVT. JYHCARIE L. WILLIAMS has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson. Williams is a 2011 graduate of Spring Valley High School.
CIVILIAN PAUL A. CATOE has enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C. Catoe is the son of Pamela A. and Paul S. Osment of Lugoff.
CIVILIAN WILLIAM SHIVER has enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C. He is the son of Thalyia D. Shiver of Columbia.
NAVY SEAMAN RECRUIT ANTONIA STEPHENSON has completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. He is the son of Patricia Stephenson of Columbia.
CIVILIAN PERRIN W. PALMER has enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C. He is the son of D.C. and Ronald W. Palmer of Blythewood.
CIVILIAN CELESTE R. BARKER has enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District, Raleigh, N.C. She is the daughter-in-law of Paulita Turnipseed and Prince Of Life McMillan, both of Columbia.
