The defending champion Wildcats host squads from all ends of the state in a test that may illuminate state title potential. Lexington, which may be expected to be a top performer in this weekend’s Great American Cross Country Festival in N.C., is the team to beat here.
Volleyball
Spring Valley vs. Ridge View
Oct. 9, 7 p.m. at Spring Valley
The host Vikings will look to snap a four-loss skid against a Blazers team that has had it’s ups and downs. Ridge View is led by Alexis Moses, who has 49 digs and a 96.4 service percentage. The Vikings’ Katlyn McDaniel and Tatyana Gibbs have combined for 260 kills.
Tennis
Dutch Fork vs. White Knoll
5 p.m., Oct. 9 at Dutch Fork
Led by Lauren Joch, the Dutch Fork Silver Foxes look for region dominance against the Timberwolves. Dutch Fork was undefeated in regular season play heading into its Oct. 3 match with non-conference rival Irmo.
Cheer
The Lexington Wildcats’ competitive cheerleading squad will host the third annual Lexington Wildcat Cheer Classic on Oct. 6 beginning at 2 p.m.
This competition features varsity and junior varsity squads from all classifications in one of a series of cheer tournaments to be held in the Midlands in the final month of regular season competition.
The host Wildcats last year placed third in state behind Mauldin and Dutch Fork.
