Burglars try to steal ATM from Blythewood gas station

Published: October 4, 2012

Richland County deputies are looking for two men who caused thousands of dollars in damages to a Blythewood gas station while trying to steal an ATM inside.

Two men were caught on security footage trying to steal an ATM inside the Sharpe Shop at 2928 Wildflower Road about 1:30 a.m. Monday, deputies say. They weren’t able to get the machine, but did cause more than $20,000 in damages to the building. They also stole a box of cigars valued at $200, deputies say.

After the unsuccessful heist, the men left in a white four-door pickup truck with a silver toolbox in the vehicle’s bed.

If you recognize the men in the vehicle, contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or www.sccrimestoppers.com.
