Airport
at Strom Thurmond
It has been a few seasons since Airport lost two games in a row, but that is the Eagles’ situation heading into this Region 5-3A match-up. Airport travels to Johnston in need of a big defensive performance against the Rebels. The Eagles have been outscored 85-35 on their two-loss skid, while the Rebels average 46 points per game.
North Augusta
at Lexington
The Wildcats (2-4) hope to add a third consecutive victory as they host North Augusta (4-2) in their first Region 5-4A matchup. The Yellow Jackets had a bye week after posting a 42-7 win over Grovetown (Ga.) on Sept. 20. Quarterback Will Hunter and receiver Altyre Walker will play a big role in the Wildcats’ offense as they try to get by a North Augusta defense that allows 16 points per game.
Hammond
at Ben Lippen
Led by running back Tyler Renew, the Falcons (2-4) take on undefeated Hammond. Skyhawks quarterback Jake Nidiffer averages 280 passing yards per game, and Quayshon Myers nearly 200 yards rushing. Renew has posted 19 touchdowns, and slowing him will be key for the Skyhawks.
Ridge View at Irmo
The Irmo Yellow Jackets slipped to 2-4 after a 20-point loss last week but look to turn over a new leaf in their first Region 4-4A match. Led by running back Bryce Fashaw, Irmo needs a productive offense to match Noland Randolph and Ridge View’s averages of 380 yards and 28 points. The Blazers could make that difficult, with Obina Ntiasagwe and Curtis Bey leading the defense.
McBee
at C.A. Johnson
The Hornets notched their first win last week, and are 1-0 in Region 3-A. C.A. Johnson looks to improve its conference standing against a McBee squad that is still seeking its first win. McBee has posted 88 points this season to Johnson’s 136.The Hornets are led on offense and defense by Mike Knox.
