EASLEY — The Pickens County School Board is considering random drug checks for employees after two were arrested recently on drug charges, The Easley Progress reports.
All employees are given drug tests and background checks before they are hired. But some in the school district are wondering the district should do more.
The school board’s policy committee has recommended the district conduct random drug checks on all employees to the extent that such checks are allowed by law, said Pickens County superintendent Kelly Pew.
“The recommendation is currently under review by the districts' legal counsel, and the full board will receive information regarding that recommendation within the next few days,” she said.
A Gettys Middle School teacher and a district office employee were arrested on drug charges last week.
