A fire at the Arborwood Apartment complex on the 300 block of Pervial Road displaced 12 people Friday night. No one was injured.
Richland County fire marshals are investigating to determine how the fire began, Columbia-Richland Fire Department spokesman Brick Lewis said.
The first call came in just before 10 p.m., with reports of heavy fire and thick smoke at the five-unit, two-story building.
The blaze started in unit 704, which sustained the most damage, Lewis said. It spread through the roof, and all units had some water and smoke damage, he said.
The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
