Columbia police arrested 41 people over Saturday night and Sunday morning in Five Points and made 63 separate criminal charges against them.
The charges included third degree assault, unlawful carrying of a pistol, drunkenness, resisting arrest, possession of beer under the age of 21, open container, fake ID, unlawful urination, and providing false information to police.
The most serious incident during that time frame was a car crash about a mile from Five Points.
Five people ended up at the hospital as a result of an 11:30 p.m. Saturday crash at Millwood Avenue and Washington Street, an intersection about two blocks south of Providence Hospital.
Driver James McKibbin Green IV, 29, was charged with felony DUI in that incident.
Police said Green, who was traveling east on Washington Street, allegedly crashed his car into another vehicle traveling north on Millwood Avenue.
After the two cars collided, Green’s car flipped on its side, police said.
Green and his four passengers were taken to a hospital. One was injured seriously, but the others were treated and released.
The driver of the other car was not injured seriously, police said.
