Columbia Police Dept.

Columbia police have released surveillance photos of a man in his 20s or 30s wearing a green, elbow-length T-shirt, described as someone officers want to talk with in connection with a mid-September killing on North Main Street.

The photos were taken at a convenience store, but police did not give any information about when or where the pictures were taken, or exactly why they want to talk to this person.

On Sept. 16, the bullet-riddled body of Michael L. Davis, 48, was found lying in the roadway in the 3800 block of North Main Street.

Police suspect that the dead man came from a 1996 white, 4-door Mazda Protégé that was seen on surveillance video near the scene of the killing about that time. No tag was visible on the Mazda.

Police believe the victim “was in possession of the car at the time of the incident,” a spokeswoman said. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers, (888) CRIME-SC (274-6372).
