Two of the capital city’s largest and oldest low-income public housing communities will share a half-million dollars in federal revitalization aid.
Allen Benedict Court and Gonzales Gardens will be awarded $250,000 by the South Carolina office of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, according to a news release on the agency’s website.
The money will be channeled through the Columbia Housing Authority, which oversees many of the city’s low-income housing complexes.
The authority is among 17 similar organizations awarded such grants across the nation.
