The greening of Columbia

Published: October 12, 2012

Since March volunteers from the Columbia Green organization has been planting the property that formerly was Kline Steel at the corner of Huger and Gervais.

They have redesigned the area around the old sign, facilitated a new sign, and planted the wildflowers. This is done with no cost to the City. They have had support from Kline Steel, the Riverbanks Zoo and the Center City Partnership.

Ann Holtschlag, right, Howard Duvall, center, and Tad Abrams, left, plant Mexican petunias Tuesday morning at the corner of Huger and Gervais.
