Monday: Romney not for all the people

Published: October 15, 2012

In his Oct. 8 letter, “Romney would restore values,” Roger L. Zeiger wrote that Mitt Romney is a very smart businessman. However, this does not qualify him to be president.

Romney wanted to let the auto industry go bankrupt, putting millions of people out of work. He also wanted to let the housing industry hit rock bottom so investors could move in and buy properties dirt cheap. Many Bain Capital business takeovers ended in unemployment for workers and big profits for Romney.

His comment that 47 percent of people are dependent upon government and that he will never win them over should open everyone’s eyes. He will not be a president of all the people; he lacks moral conviction and is Janus-faced.

The letter goes on to say that President Obama has a socialistic agenda. It’s not a new claim: The Republican Party called FDR a socialist before the Social Security Act became law. President Obama’s health-care reform likewise is benefitting many Americans.
