The school bus driver charged with DUI following an accident Friday October 12 on Clarkson Road in Hopkins "is no longer employed by Richland One," a statement from the school district announced Tuesday night.
Margaret Means, 61, was charged by state troopers after the accident occurred shortly after 9 a.m. Friday.
Richland One spokeswoman Karen York would not say whether Means had been fired or left her job voluntarily citing district policy not to comment on confidential personnel matters.
No students were on the bus at the time of the accident, York said.
Means, who has worked as a driver for more than 12 years, had finished her morning runs of delivering students to Hopkins Middle and Lower Richland High when the accident occurred. She lost control of the bus, hit a ditch, then crossed the road and went into another ditch, York said.
