Eau Claire (1-8, 0-4 Region 3-2A) vs. Columbia (3-6, 2-2)

Site: Bolden Stadium.

Game notes: Columbia suffered a 33-28 loss at North Central last week. Having quarterback Anthony Brown leave the game in the second quarter with an injury didn’t matters. Quinton McMillan filled in admirably, and William Gossett stepped up to score three touchdowns for the Capitals, but the defense gave up a game-winning scoring drive after Gossett’s final tally staked Columbia to a 28-25 lead with four minutes to go ... Eau Claire dropped its seventh in a row and its second game to Keenan this season last week. The final was 40-0.

Series history: Columbia blanked the Shamrocks 24-0 last season and enjoys a commanding 24-4 lead in the series since 1970.

Pelion (3-6, 2-2 Region 3-2A) vs. Keenan (5-4, 2-2)

Site: Pelion Stadium.

Game notes: Keenan ended a two-game losing streak with a 40-0 romp over Eau Claire. The Raiders ran wild against the porous Shamrocks defense. Daetrom Hyman had 122 yards rushing on 12 carries, while Peter Easaw had 123 yards on 11 totes. Easaw has one touchdown run and one scoring catch. QB Titus Hopkins was 8-for-17 passing for 157 yards and three TDs. Josh McCord was the top receiver with four catches for 89 yards and one TD. Richard Lawhorn was the leader on defense with 15 tackles. Of note, Rysheem Rushing has six sacks to date … Pelion is looking to rebound in the wake of back-to-back blowout losses to Columbia and Fairfield Central. The Panther offensive leaders include RB Carlton Richard (111-746-10), QB Zach Hawkins (70-for-150 for 1,057 yards, 12 TDs) and wideouts Terry Davis (23-470-7) and Freddie Phillips (22-247-0). Mark Vuocolo is the leader on defense with 61 tackles.

Series history: The series resumes for the first time since 2007. Pelion has prevailed in all four of the previous contests.

Saluda (5-4, 1-3 Region 2-2A) vs. Batesburg-Leesville (5-4, 2-2)

Site: Bettis Herlong Stadium.

Game notes: Batesburg-Leesville was dominated by Newberry in a 27-7 loss at home last week. The Panthers managed only 44 yards and two first downs on offense. At one point, B-L went eight straight possessions without moving the chains. The only Panthers touchdown came on a 93-yard kickoff return by Terrance Williams … Saluda is coming off a 35-14 loss to Ninety Six.

Series history: Saluda snapped an eight-game losing streak against the neighboring Panthers but B-L has dominated the long-running series, especially since the start of the modern era. Since 1970, the Tigers have managed only seven wins in 43 tries.
