A Lexington County jury has convicted a Gilbert man of criminal domestic violence and kidnapping for assaulting and binding his live-in girlfriend in late 2011.
Furman Henderson Jr., 32, of Paxton Pond Road, was sentenced by Judge Howard King to 10 years in prison for the convictions.
According to the 11th Circuit Court Solicitors Office, Henderson assaulted his girlfriend in their residence on Dec. 5. He then duct-taped her hands and feet and later forced her to drive him to the Truck Stop 44.
At the truck stop, she escaped and pleaded with employees for help. Henderson caught up to her and, according to employees who witnessed the incident, choked the woman until she lost consciousness.
The woman suffered bleeding on the brain in addition to other injuries. Henderson had three prior convictions for criminal domestic violence.
