Columbia police have charged a 17-year-old Columbia man with murder and carjacking in connection with the shooting death of a man on North Main Street last month.

Austin Jamal Murray was being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center Thursday night, Police Chief Randy Scott said in a news release.

The bullet-riddled body of Michael L. Davis, 48, was found lying in the road in the 3800 block of North Main Street on Sept. 16. Investigators continue to search for a 1996 white 4-door Mazda Protégé with possible damage to the tail and brake lights that was seen in the area by surveillance video.
