COLUMBIA, SC — The headquarters for the citys Parks and Recreation Department has moved to a new building at Earlewood Park and opens publicly Nov. 1.
Administrative staff have transitioned from the building at 1932 Calhoun St., to the 1111 Parkside Drive site at the park, located at North Main Street and Monticelllo Road.
The new $1.5 million building and adjoining $1 million community center will be open to the public late next week, the city said in a news release Thursday. A grand opening is slated for next spring.
Anyone interested in reserving or renting the community center may do so as of Nov. 1, city officials said. The new headquarters will retain the old phone number, (803) 545-3100.
A staff member will stay at the Calhoun Street location near Harden Street to direct visitors until Nov. 2.
