RICHLAND COUNTY, SC —
Deputies in Richland County are looking for a man who robbed a Dollar General store Saturday.
The clerk at the store at 9211 Two Notch road told deputies that a man came into the store about 6:30 p.m., pretended to buy something, then pulled out a gun and demanded money, deputies said.
A customer who was in the store ran out a back door when he saw the robbery, causing the alarm to sound. The robber heard the alarm and left before he could take any cash from the register.
The incident was caught on surveillance video.
The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is trying to determine if the robbery is connected to any others in Richland County.
The crime bears similarities with robberies at two Dollar Generals and a Hardee’s restaurant in Columbia last week. In each of those incidents, the robber came in and pretended to purchase an item before pulling out a gun and demanding cash from the register.
Those robberies occurred at a Dollar General on Beltline Boulevard and the Rosewood Drive Hardee's Oct. 25 and a Leesburg Road Dollar General Tuesday.
If you know anything about the robberies, or recognize the robber, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or www.sccrimestoppers.com.
