COLUMBIA, SC — A Columbia sports bar is holding a fundraiser Saturday for a nurse seriously injured in a September hit-and-run collision at Palmetto Health Richland.
The TLC Sports Bar and Grill is holding the fundraiser at its 936 South Stadium Rd location from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. for Lindsay Bires, who was hit by a car and seriously injured while she was standing outside the hospital on break about 2:25 a.m. Sept. 16. Other hospital employees who saw the collision reacted quickly and are credited with saving the 24-year-old’s life.
There is a $20 cover charge at the bar during the fundraiser, which will all be donated to Bires’ family. A portion of proceeds from food and drink orders during the fundraiser will also be donated.
The band Cover of Afternoon will be performing at the fundraiser along with DJ 3T Sounds. There will also be a silent auction raising money for Bires, a USC school of Nursing graduate.
Saturday’s fundraiser isn’t the only one for the nurse, according to the Prayers for Lindsay Facebook page, which was created to update friends and relatives on her recovery.
A similar fundraiser is being held from 7 p.m. to midnight Nov. 30 at the Danverssport Yacht Club in Lynn, Mass., near Bires’ hometown of Danvers, Mass. Bires was transferred to a hospital in Cambridge, Mass.
