Two killed when fight spills onto Columbia roadway

Published: November 4, 2012

— Richland County coroner Gary Watts has identified two people killed early Saturday morning on the 7300 block of Two Notch Road at Decker Boulevard.

Otis H. Starks, 41 of Columbia, and Corey Trapp, 35 of Blythewood, were fighting and apparently rolled into the middle of the roadway and the path of a car which struck them, Watts said. Starks and Trapp died on the scene.

The two men had apparently started arguing earlier at a bar and been asked to leave, Watts said. The two left the bar in separate cars, pulled into the median on Two Notch and continued the scuffle.

The two men were struck at 3:40 a.m. by a Honda Accord driving south on Two Notch Road by 39-year-old Stacey Carter of Camden, Cpl. Bob Beres of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
